William "Ollie" Martin

William "Ollie" Martin, 81 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, October 22, 2018 at his home, following a full and meaningful life.

He was born January 5, 1937 in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania. Ollie had made his home in Amherst for over fifty years.

Ollie was a loving husband and dad. He was a carpenter by trade and started Martin Construction in 1976. He served as a trustee for the Pentons Owners Group. Ollie enjoyed restoring Penton motorcycles and in his younger years he raced motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife of sixty years Dorothy "Dollie" Martin; his son Albert (Janet) Martin of North Ridgeville, his granddog Dexter; his brother Wilbert (Frances) Martin of Elyria; and his sister Alberta Perkins of Bentleyville, Pennsylvania.

He was preceded in death by his brother Raymond Martin; his sister Bernadette Bruhn; and his parents Albert and Margaret Martin (nee: Hartman).

Friends may call Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Butternut Ridge Road Cemetery, in Grafton.

The family would like to personally thank his physicians Ruben Escuro, MD, Patrick Litam, MD, Jay Sidlowski, DO and Roger Ove, M.D. The University Hospitals Seideman Cancer Center with special thanks to his nurses Kathleen and Brenda; New Life Hospice; His caregivers Ocie and Sylvia that carried them through a very difficult time.
