Willie Charles Ellis, 73 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020, at the Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness.
He was born July 25, 1947, in West Virginia. WiIlie was raised in West Virginia before moving to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of 17. He had made his home in Vermilion for the last twenty-nine years.
WIllie was employed at Ford Motor Company in Avon for forty-two years before retiring in 2007, as a truck driver. He was a member of Sheffield Church of God and loved the fellowship there. Willie loved motorcycle riding, attending car shows and watching western shows. Most of all, he loved being a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, nothing brought him greater joy then the time he spent with family. Willie will be remembered as someone who was always willing to help others, whether they be an old friend or new acquaintance.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years Denise Gayle Ellis (nee: Breeding); his children Janice Williena Ellis of Cleveland, Willie Charles Ellis (Darlene) of Sheffield Lake, James Dale Ellis (Lauren) of Seven Hills, Martha Faye Ellis of Mt. Palms Bay, FL and Chad Everette Ellis (Jennifer) of Vermilion; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and his sisters Orao Toler (Denny) and Margaret Huffman both of Chapmansville, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Wilson Ellis, Margie Toler; and his parents Anse and Ella Ellis (nee: Adkins).
Private visitation and funeral will be held this Wednesday at Hempel Funeral Home. A public rebroadcasting of services will be available the next day at www.hempelfuneralhome.com The Rev. Scott Skeens, of Sheffield Church of God, will officiate.
