William Edward Coleman. 71 years of age, and a resident of Oberlin , passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical in Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born October 9, 1949, in Lorain. William was raised in Vermilion and lived in Amherst for twenty-five years before moving to Oberlin where he had resided for the last six years.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. William was employed as a machinist at Coley’s Inc. for over forty years before retiring in 2015. He loved camping, listening to music and traveling, especially to Florida.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-two years, Linda Marguerite Coleman (nee: Emery); his children, Sharon Phillips of Ashland, Paul Phillips (Patricia) of Oberlin, Bryan Pullin (Cindy) of Birmingham, and Dawn Szantay of Amherst; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren plus one on the way; his siblings, Robert Coleman (Jeannie) of Lorain, and Tina Vasi (Mike) of Berlin Heights.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Coleman in 1996; and his parents Ronald and Patricia Coleman (nee: Quigg).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 12:00 until the time of the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Military Honors will be performed by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard. Due to State Covid-19, we are asking that people wear a mask and be careful to maintain social distancing.
