Wayne Baus Obituary

Wayne Baus, 91 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 25, 2022, at his home, following a full and meaningful life.
 
He was born October 7,1930, in Elyria.  Wayne was blessed to be living in the home built by his grandparents, he continued living at his family home until his passing.  He graduated from Elyria High School as class president with the class of 1948.  
 
 Wayne proudly served in the United States Army in Korea.  While he was growing up, his family owned and operated Baus Dairy, supplying milk to their neighbors for over 17 years.  After returning from the service, Wayne continued operating the dairy farm for a short period of time before opening Ridge Brand Potatoes. 
 
For over sixty-three years, he  owned and operated Whitehouse Artesian Springs in Elyria.  His business is a fixture in Lorain County and continues to provide clean water throughout Northern Ohio.  He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Free in Amherst. Wayne loved his weekly coffee and breakfast with his life long friend John Muniga.
 
Survivors include his wife of twenty-eight years, Judi Baus (nee: Moore): his children, Cheryl (Dean) Cotton of Leesburg, GA, Lynn (Gary) Sooy, Bryan (Linda) Baus, and Greg (Elaine) Baus  all of Elyria; his step children, Brian (Brenda) Sweet of Amherst and Kelly (John)  Boland of Chardon, OH; nine grandchildren; six step grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and one step great grandchild. 
 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anne Baus (nee. Johnson) in 1990; his sister, Shirley Shubert in 2020; and his parents, Newton and Helen Baus (nee: Merthe), and his grandson Colin Boland in 2010.
 
Private graveside services were held by the family at North Murray Ridge Cemetery.  A public reception to celebrate Wayne's life will take place Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022, at the Baus Family farm from 4 to 7 pm with a meal to be served at 5 pm.
