Wade Paterson Hubbard

Wade Paterson Hubbard of Amherst, 81 years of age, went home to be with the Lord, October 8, 2023.

Wade was born June 1, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, and was raised in Amherst, graduating from Amherst High School.  

Wade was a high school teacher, retiring from the Amherst Public Schools after 35 years as an educator. He received a bachelor's degree from Valparaiso University and continued his education at the University of Akron. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving in the choir and as an adult Bible study teacher. Outside of church and work, Wade loved his involvement with the Amherst Workshop Players as an actor, director and playwright. He also enjoyed reading and playing board games. Most of all, he treasured spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. 

Wade is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Donna Marilyn Hubbard (nee: Kluck): his children, Kenneth (Melissa) Hubbard of Amherst and Steven (Patricia) Hubbard of Weston, MA; his grandchildren, William, Nathaniel, Samuel, and Isaac; and his sister, Penny Brixie of Vermilion.

He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Irwin and Esther Florence Hubbard (nee: Nabakowski).

Friends may call Friday, October 13, 2023, from 10-11 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m. The Rev. Paul Werner, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst, Ohio.
