Viola Michael (nee: Yoder), 81 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022, at New Life Hospice Center, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born July 19, 1940, in Tuscola, Illinois where she was raised. Viola made her home in South Amherst for the last forty-six years. She attended Heston College in Kansas City, Kansas.
She was employed as a registered nurse at Lorain Community Hospital/Mercy Regional Medical Center for forty-three years before retiring in 2006. Viola was previously employed at the Cleveland Clinic. She attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amherst where she served as a Sunday School Teacher. Viola loved animals of all kinds, she was compassionate and provided a sanctuary for animals and birds. She loved traveling to the National Parks, and especially to Chincoteague Island, VA.
Survivors include her children, Heidi Annette Schrock of Centreville, VA and Walter David Michael of Watertown, MA; her grandchildren, Alexandra, Aristotle and Ethan; and her sister, Irene Plank of Sarasota, FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Bill Michael; her brother, Willis Yoder; and her parents, Omer and Anna Yoder (nee: Miller).
Services will be held privately by the family.
