Velma Louise (Stigall) Jones

Velma Louise Jones (nee: Stigall), 86 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior March 10, 2023, at Oak Hills Nursing Home following a long and full life.

Velma was born October 19, 1936 in Quinton, KY, where she was raised before coming to the Lorain county area as a young woman. . 

Velma loved the Lord and attended Grace Baptist Church of South Amherst.  As a young mother Velma worked briefly for Birmingham Metal and the MA Harrison Manufacturing Company before returning to the home to be a housewife and mother. She loved animals of all kinds and caring for her flower garden.  

Survivors include her children David (Linda Roberts) Jones of Warsaw, Steve (Cheryl) Jones of Amherst Twp, Ronald (Courtney) Jones of Elyria; Shari (Robert) Eiborg of Amherst; Tammy (James) Barnick of Huber Heights; many grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-five years, Lucian Jones in 1987; daughter, Sandra Jaram; her grandson, Brian Jaram in 2018; her great grandson, Xyarvyan in 2003;her stepfather, Steve Evers; and her parents, Raymond and Dessie Stigall (nee: Gibson).

Friends may call Tuesday, March 14, 2023, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.   Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, 10 a.m. at the funeral home.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Ohio.
