Tony Ortiz, 59 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, following a joy filled, meaningful life.
He was born July 1, 1961. Tony was raised in Lorain, graduating from Southview High School with the class of 1980.
He proudly served in the United States Army as well as Army National Guard. Tony was employed at Geon in Avon Lake for thirty-four years as a team leader. He was a member of St. Vincent DePaul Church in Elyria. Tony was an avid Cleveland Sports fan. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Tony loved the Lord often praying for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Deneen C. Frabotta-Ortiz; his children, Tiffany J. Ortiz (Jamie D. Burrer), and Antonio W. Ortiz both of Elyria; his grandchildren, Mckaelyn B. Ortiz, and Savannah S. Burrer; his siblings, Carlos “Rick” E. Santiago, Miriam Velez, Angel Ortiz, Caroline Ortiz, Mary Lou Ortiz, James Oritz, and Jeanette Ortiz; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Dominca “Maria” Ortiz; his siblings, Lydia Munoz, Lucy Santiago, Jose Santiago, Juan “Cedo” Santiago, and David Oritz.
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, May 28, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of closing prayers at 12:30 at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Vincent DePaul Church,41295 North Ridge Road, East, Elyria. Due to State Covid-19 protocols, we are asking that people wear a mask and be careful to maintain social distancing. Private burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain.
