Thomas John Heusser, 99 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away March 13, 2022, at New Life Hospice, following a full and meaningful life.
Thomas was born June 12, 1922, in Baker, MN. As a young boy, his family moved to Westlake, before settling in Amherst in 1954 where he resided until his passing.
Thomas proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the Army, he worked in quality control at the Ford Motor Company in Lorain for 23 years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Amherst VFW as well as the American Legion. He was also a member of SCOA and the Amherst Rotary. As an umpire, he was a member of the Amherst Athletic Association and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.
Survivors include: his son Chris J. (Ann) Heusser of Massillon; his daughter Deborah Heusser of Westlake; his grandchildren Sarah and Thomas, and 5 great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-three years, Mary Heusser (nee: Szuch) in 2012; his step father Ferd Heusser and parents Clarence and Ann Groff(nee: Antolik).
Services will be held privately at a later date.
