Thomas Lee Evans, Sr., 88 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, October 21, 2023, following a full and meaningful life.
Thomas was born February 20, 1935, in Mt. Pleasant, PA and raised there. Amherst has been his home since 1965.
Thomas was employed for 44 years as a lab technician at B.F. Goodrich. After retirement, Tom worked as a courier for Sprenger Nursing Homes. Tom faithfully served in the Army National Guard until his discharge in 1958. He was a faithful member of a Church on the North Coast. Outside of work, he loved to sing and golf. However, his greatest joy in life was his family. He will be remembered as a faithful, loving husband, father, and grandfather who joyfully lived out his calling to care for and nurture his family.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years Barbara Ann Evans (nee: Kimmel): his children, Mark (Sandy) Evans of Wakeman, Thomas (Connie) Evans, Jr. of Vermilion, Terrence (Evelyn) Evans of Amherst, and Jennifer (Steven) Buckosh of Huron; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; his brother, Gene Evans of Amherst; and his sister, Darlene Shultz of Hagerstown, PA.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn R. Evans, Sr.; and his parents, Eugene and Annabel Evans (nee: Gearhart).
Friends may call Saturday, October 28, 2023, from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:00 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. The Rev. Troy Thompson, pastor of Church on the North Coast, will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Avon, Ohio.
