Thelma “Sue” Wilson (nee: Bailey), 80 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022, at her home, following lingering illness.
She was born December 4, 1941, in Broadhead, Kentucky. Sue had made her home in the Amherst area since 1961.
She loved being a homemaker and taking care of her family. Sue was the velvet touch of the family. She was very outgoing and her laugh could light up a room. Sue will be remembered as a person that loved people, was a good listener and was very empathic. Her hobbies included sewing, music, dancing and going to garage sales. Sue’s favorite holiday was Christmas
Survivors include her loving husband of fifty-one years, Edward Andre Wilson, Jr., her children, Connie Baugh of West Salem, Aaron Baugh (Dawn Wienke) of Vermilion, Merry Melissa Mayfield (Steve) of San Miguel, CA, Melanie Jo Read (Cole) of Lorain; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her sister, Faye Wiegand of Amherst.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Donald, Bill, Myrtle Petery, Edna Pummer, Irene Bailey, Dorothy Denney and Betty Johnson; and her parents Delver “Doc” and Mary Bailey (nee: Brock).
Friends may call Thursday, January 6, 2022, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Arthur J. Wiegand, pastor of First United Congregational Church, will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Amherst.
