Susan Elizabeth Moore (nee: Allison), 62 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Ames Family Hospice in Westlake.
She was born May 3, 1959, in Amherst, Ohio, graduating from Marion L. Steele High School with the class of 1977. Susan was a Summa Cum Laude graduate from Akron University where she received her Bachelors in Science in Nursing. She also trained at the MB Johnson School for nursing.
She was employed as an Emergency Room Nurse at Lorain Community/Mercy Regional Hospital in Lorain for forty years. Susan also used her nursing skills at Avon Lake Ford Truck Plant for eighteen years. She was an active member of the 1199 SEIU Nurses Union. Susan was an excellent seamstress and loved making christening clothing and within the last year she was making masks for family and friends. She was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and attended one of the playoff games during the CAVS championship series and was honored to be one of the flag holders during the national anthem. Her hobbies included fishing, camping, and traveling. Susan also enjoyed going to Cedar Point and taking Cruises. She loved Indy 500 Races and was an attendee for twenty years.
Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-four years, Jeffery Moore; her multiple beloved pets; her siblings, Charles “Chuck” Allison (Laura) and Karen Allison and her son Jonathan Sturtz both of Amherst; numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her infant brother, Donald in 1958; and her parents, George Whitehill and Martha Elsie Allison (nee: Kirk).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2021, from 2-5 & 6-9 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Family has requested, but not required, that due to COVID-19 protocols, masks be worn and social distancing followed. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ . Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
