Sue C. Garcia (nee: Petruzzi), 75 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away April 6, 2022, at University Hospital in Cleveland following a long and full life.
Sue was born October 24, 1946, in Elyria where she was raised and lived for many years. Amherst has been her home for the past 20 years.
Sue’s greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother to her family and creating a warm and inviting home. She loved to go on shopping excursions with her family, choosing her lottery tickets, and being outdoors working in the sunshine. Beyond her love of homemaking, she was a licensed beautician and long time member of St. Vincent dePaul Church in Elyria.
Survivors include her children, Angela Dotson of Amherst, Nicole (Floyd) Shamblin of Lorain, and Danielle (Matt) Nagy of Wakeman; her grandchildren, Scott, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Madeline, Camden, Nicholas, Aly, and Bella; her great grandchildren Cameron, Kellen, Kyndall; her brothers, Charles Petruzzi, Jr. of AZ and John Petruzzi of OH; her sister Debbie Freeman of FL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Garcia in 1995; her son-in-law, Keith Dotson in 2012; her sisters, Darla, Mary Dell, and Kathy; and her parents Charles, Sr. and Elois Petruzzi (nee: Swick).
A public mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, April 11, 2022, at 12 o’clock noon at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Elyria. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . The Rev. Fr. Neil Walters, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Lorain.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to St. Vincent de Paul Church to care for the poor 41295 N Ridge Rd, Elyria, OH 44035 .
