Shirley Phillips Obituary

Shirley Phillips (nee; Tellman), 80 years of age, and a resident of Oberlin, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the home of her daughter Colette, following a full and meaningful life.

She was born March 15, 1943, in Lorain where she was raised  before moving to Oberlin in 1978 where she remained a lifetime resident.

Shirley was employed for many years as a hairdresser at multiple salons, including Magic Touch. She received her degree in cosmetology and skillfully applied her trade for over 50 years. She was a founding member of Tower Baptist and active there till her decline in health. Outside of work and church, she was passionate about “strays” whether that was an animal or person. She was a mom to many and poured out her love on all. She also loved baking, going to the county fair, and her southern gospel music. Her greatest joy in life was her family and grandkids and spending time with them. Above all, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Survivors include her children, Clifford "Scott" (Terah) Phillips of LaGrange, Kentucky; Colette (Pat) Cahill of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Shawna (Matthew) Livingston of Wellington, Ohio; her
grandchildren, Clifford "Jacob"(Hannah), Joshua, Patrick, Owen, Alexis, Naomi and Alayna.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 ½ years, Clifford R. Phillips on May 25, 2014; her siblings, Robert William Tellman and Marilyn Dianna Stoneking-Pritchett;  and her parents Perry and Mary Tellman (nee: Kender).
