Sandra Eddy Obituary

Sandra J. Eddy, 82 of Carlisle Township went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 27, 2021 while at home  in the care of her loving husband, Dean Eddy.  Sandy lost a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease but is in a far better place.

Sandy was born on September 28, 1939 in North Ridgeville, Ohio.  Sandy graduated from the North Ridgeville school system and shortly afterward married Dick Collins with whom she had three children, Cindy, Rich and Mike that she loved very much.

Sandy held various secretarial positions for a number of local companies over the years.  Eventually she landed at Invacare Corp. where she became an executive secretary in the sales division responsible for bidding government contracts.  Sandy stayed there for many years until her retirement.

In 1983 she met the love of her life, Dean Eddy, whom she married in 1984.  She and Dean shared many things, including their mutual love of the Lord Jesus Christ.  They enjoyed spending time together, traveling to various places including Europe, Great Britain, Hawaii and a number of other states in the US.

Sandy was a loving mother and grandmother, giving of her time freely whenever she was needed to help care for her grandchildren.  She loved getting together with her family for cookouts and holidays and was loved very much.  Sandy also volunteered for many years at the Cornerstone Crisis Pregnancy Center for Women, retiring only when her disease became too much of an obstacle.

Sandy was cared for at home for the entirety of her illness.  Her care was provided for by her faithful husband Dean and a number of different nursing caregivers over the years.  Even when ill, Sandy maintained her sweet spirit and was much loved by the women who cared for her.

Sandy is survived by her husband, Dean Eddy, daughter Cindy (Gary) Dale; son, Mike (Dee) Collins; stepdaughter Marcy (Doug) Cairns; stepson Clarence (Kim) Eddy; grandchildren, Krista (Daniel) Riche; Kevin Dale; Jennifer (Noah Dinger) Dale; Courtney (Justin) Morell; Austin Collins; Doug (Taylor) Cairns, Ryan (Janelle) Cairns, Rachel Cairns, and 8 great grandchildren;  She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur McVeigh and Beulah Hobill; son Richard R (Rich) Collins; brother Don McVeigh; sister Kathy Hobill.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 1st from  6 p.m. until  8 p.m.. and  funeral services will follow on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at  Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio.
