Sandra Bodnar (nee: Edison )
Sandys vibrant spirit left this earth for its eternal home on Friday, April 16, 2021.
Sandy was a graduate of Firelands High School, and resided in the city of Lorain for the majority of her adult life. She was a long time member of Church of the Open Door in Elyria, spending many hours serving in the nursery or attending women’s Bible study. She deeply valued these relationships that were made through her faith.
She was a dedicated 30 -year employee of Ford Motor, retiring in 2006. After retirement she spent several years teaching Silver Sneakers fitness classes in Lorain County. She loved her seniors and they loved her!
Sandy’s leisure time was spent on the bike path in Oberlin, line dancing, creating beaded jewelry, and her latest passion was on the pickle ball court. She was a fierce competitor, while always sporting a smile. “Carry on my friends. My best game awaits you on the other side!” In addition, she enjoyed the companionship of her Cavalier King Charles dogs, Shelby and Auggie.
In May of 1977, Sandy married her best friend Bob. Together they raised one son, Greg (Christine) Bodnar. Being his mom has been the single greatest joy of her life.
She is survived by her stepmother, Mary Diamond of Lorain, and her devoted sisters, Marcella (Dick) Tracey of Knoxville, Tennessee, Regina (Bob) Gow of Vermilion, Vickie (Ken) Schmidt of Lorain, and Rhonda (Ken) Kelsey of Elyria. She will be missed by nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a surrogate grandma to Abby and Cameron Broaddus and treasured every minute spent with them. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Charlotte Edison (nee: Bond).
