Rudolph “Rudy” Santarelli, 55 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland. He battled with serious medical issues in recent years but showed courage by facing this challenge with a smile.
He was born June 1, 1965 in Lorain where he lived most of his life.
Rudy was a very kind, compassionate person who loved helping others. He attended Lorain Southview High School. After high school, he lived in Florida for a while. Rudy obtained his STNA Certification and formerly worked at Lorain Manor and at The Villa Camillus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was a taxi cab driver for several years. Being an altruistic person by nature, he enjoyed volunteering. Rudy could be seen at Christmas time ringing the bell for the Local Salvation Army.
Rudy loved music. He played the guitar and liked to write and record his own songs. He enjoyed attending services at the Church of the Redeemer in Lorain. Rudy was a life-long Cleveland sports fan, especially the Browns.
Survivors include his children, Aaron Santarelli of Maryville, Ohio, Elizabeth Santarelli of Avon, OH, his father, Pasquale Santarelli (Virginia) of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren, Christian and Ethan Santarelli of Maryville, Ohio his siblings Pasquale Santarelli (Sonja) of Chilhowie, VA, Jorgann Mendosa (Greg) of Lorain and Cindy Sayler (Jeff) of Seville, OH.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosalyn Santarelli in 2018 and his mother Petra “Betty” Santarelli Mendiola (nee: Martinez) in 2010.
