Ruby Ellen “Susie” Morris (nee: Rider), 71 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2020, at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a sudden illness.
Susie was born July 17, 1949, in Clay County, WV where she was raised. South Amherst has been her home for the last 51 years.
Susie was a devoted wife and mother keeping home for her husband and her two children. She was a member of North Lake Missionary Baptist Church. She loved being with her family whether it be shopping or pitching horseshoes.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of fifty-three years Freeman “Buckshot” Morris; her children Tracy Morris of South Amherst; Jay and Lisa Morris of South Amherst; four grandchildren Deven Morris, Taylor Trifiletti, Amber Lopez, Blake Morris; 5 great grandchildren Harmony, Ripley, Lelianna, Ella, Raiden; and her siblings Johnny, Henry, Betty, and Toodle all of West Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Jean Ferguson and Joann; and her parents John and Georgia Rider (nee: Mortan).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2020, in the evening by making reservations here or by calling week days from 9 -5 pm 440-988-4451, Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio. A public funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 323 N. Lake St., South Amherst, Ohio. COVID 19 protocol will be requested at both events. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com The Rev. Rick Keesee, pastor of Midway Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in South Amherst.
