After a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, Ronald Tucker, 85, passed away in his home on Saturday, January 8, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Born February 9, 1936, in Ritner, Kentucky, he had made South Amherst his home for the better part of 55 years. Starting at a young age, Ron was driven by an unmatched work ethic, from farming to shipyards and everything in between, he enjoyed the sense of accomplishment that a day of hard work brings. He found his passion in drywall, and operated his own drywall business, Tucker and Company, until he retired. Even in retirement, he often enjoyed joining his sons, all in construction, on job sites and aiding them with their own projects.
Always the jokester, Ron could make anyone laugh. If you were in the same room and thought there must be a bug near your head, chances are it was him and his famous sleight of hand, tickled by your eagerness to swat away the invisible pest. He would keep his grandkids in stitches with endless witty quips, rhymes, and practical jokes.
Ron was a craftsman by every definition. He enjoyed woodworking, building furniture, and maintaining his home. An early riser all of his days, you could find him outside each morning enjoying his coffee on the patio, filling his bird feeders, and caring for his meticulously manicured lawn and garden.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Patricia Tucker (nee: Ensminger); his children, Ronald, Jr. (Shannon) Tucker of Jacksonville, FL, Danny Tucker (llia) of Amherst, Todd Tucker of South Amherst and Angel (James) Wright of Amherst; his grandchildren, Anne Marie Rhinehart, Kayla Cunningham, Matthew Tucker, Zachary Tucker, Cory Tucker, Whitney Tucker, Nicholas Tucker, Dakota Tucker, Jessica Wright and Jacob Wright; and 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Ray Tucker, Beverly Chitwood, and Betty Swartz; and his parents Roy and Alta Tucker (nee: Phillips).
