Ronald John Bates

Ronald John Bates, 80 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Amherst, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, at his home.

Ronald was born August 8, 1943, in Amherst.  

He was employed at York International for many years before retiring as a tow motor operator.  Ronald was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed keeping up with the latest movies that he loved watching.  In his younger years, he raced cars at the Norwalk Speedway and loved to attend the races throughout the years.  Ronald's love for cars lasted throughout his life and was evident in his habit of purchasing a new vehicle every two years. By far Ron’s greatest joy was the time he spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Rhonda Ludlow (Steve) of  Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Ron Bates (Jackie) of Port Clinton, Ohio and Jeff Bates of Elyria, Ohio; as well as nine grandchildren; and brother, Ernest Felpz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Rose Bates (nee: Martin).

Services were held privately by the family.
