Richard “Dick” Allan Szucs, 84 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away, Monday, November 8, 2021 at New Life Hospice in Lorain, following a brief illness.
He was born July 18, 1937 in Lorain. Dick was raised in Lorain, graduating from Lorain High School. He had made his home in Amherst for the last forty-four years.
Dick was employed as an Engineer at Lorain Products for many years. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst. Dick was an avid Ohio State fan and loved watching the Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf with his high school buddies even in his later years. Dick enjoyed being outdoors taking care of his yard and home. When he was younger, Dick was his daughter Connie’s first softball coach. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his loving wife of forty-eight years, Rosemary Szucs (nee: Nemeth); his daughter, Connie Daum (Kevin) of Medina; his grandchildren, Landon and Kyler Daum; and his siblings Robert Szucs (Betty) of Amherst and Marianne Parrish of North Ridgeville.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Cherie Marie Szucs on July 22, 2002; and his parents Albert and Mary Alice Szucs (nee: Andrews).
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church; 200 St. Joseph Drive, Amherst. The Rev. Fr. Timothy O’Connor, pastor will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions in Richard's memory be sent to the Cherie Marie Szucs Memorial Scholarship fund in care of Lorain County Community College,1005 Abbe Rd N, Elyria, OH 44035.
