Richard C. “Dick” Currier, 92 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, January 14, 2022, at his home following a long battle with heart disease.

Dick was born, March 3, 1929, in Henrietta Township to Mr. Chauncey Frank Currier and Helen Currier (nee: Fairchild).  He was a farmer until he served in the US Army from 1946 - 1948.  Upon returning from the service, he worked as a farmer and also for Thew Shovel.  In 1972, he purchased the Party Shop and was well known for Richard’s Wine Cellar until retiring in 2011.  Dick employed many individuals and became a father figure to so many throughout the years.

Dick was a lifetime member of the Amherst Rotary Club in which he held many offices.  He was most well known for his relentless pursuit to help those less fortunate by collecting used medical equipment from various institutions and seeing that it was shipped around the world through Rotary’s MESA program.
