Richard “Dick” J. Novak, 90 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, November 6, 2020, at St. Mary of the Woods following a long and full life.
Dick was born September 2, 1930, in Cleveland Heights where he was raised and graduated from Cleveland Heights High School. Avon had been his home for over 57 years before moving to Elyria.
Dick was an insurance agent for the Western and Southern Life Insurance Co. for over 30 years. He was a member of Church of the Open Door in Elyria and was active in his earlier years leading the Navigators Sunday School Class and serving as a deacon. Dick also worked for the Avon Gun and Tackle Shop for 30 years.
Survivors include his sons Richard (Kathleen) Novak of Avon; Stephen (Pamela) Novak of Rochester; Thomas (Shauna) Novak of Ft. Collins CO; and Bret (Mary) Novak of Elyria; twelve grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-seven years Jean Louise Novak (nee: Brown) on June 15, 2020; his son Greg Novak in 2012; his daughter-in-law Cheryl Novak in 2002; his sister Doris; and his parents Emmanuel and Elsie Novak.
Services will be held privately by the family.
