Richard William Gerber, 88 years of age, and a resident of Elyria, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2021, at the Wesleyan Village of Elyria.
He was born September 11, 1934, in Amherst. Richard had made his home in Amherst for the majority of his life. Elyria has been his home for the last five years.
He was employed as a lighting engineer at I.T.T. Wakefield for over thirty years. Richard was a farmer at heart and loved farm life, riding tractors, and even found great pleasure in restoring an old John Deere tractor. He and his late wife Beverly loved tending to their vegetable and flower gardens. He treasured the time he spent with his family.
Survivors include his sons, Richard “Rick” A. Gerber of Elyria, James E. Gerber of Cleveland, and Daniel E. Gerber (Denise), of Columbus; and his grandson, James A. Gerber.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Beverly Ann Gerber on February 5, 2016; his siblings, Clarence Gerber, Robert E. Gerber and Elizabeth Wilson; and his parents, Ernest and Leila (nee Ewell) Gerber.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Amherst.
