Rhonda Lee Smith-Jones

Rhonda Lee Smith-Jones (nee: Currier), 71 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain.

She was born in Amherst on July 2, 1951. Rhonda lived in Amherst and Elyria, graduating from Elyria High School with the class of 1969.  Throughout her life she lived in eight different states before coming home to Amherst where she had made her home until her passing.

Rhonda loved children, investing in their lives as a  preschool teacher for over twenty years. She was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1662 in Amherst.  In her spare time, Rhonda enjoyed reading and needlepoint.

Survivors include her grandson, Colby Hunter Currier; her siblings, Leon Currier of Elyria, Michael Currier (Diane) of Northglenn, CO, Dale Currier (Janie) and Gerrye Weigl (Allen) both of Elyria.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kelly Lynn Jones in 2016; and her parents, Gerald and Juanita Currier (nee: Feakins).

Friends may call Monday, April 17, 2023 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:30 at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
