Rev. Charles Daniel Tackett, 84 years of age, and a resident of Sheffield Lake, went home to be with His Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at his home, following a full and meaningful life.
He was born March 1, 1939 in Fleming Neon, Kentucky. In 1959 Charles moved to Lorain where he had made his home for fourteen years before moving to Sheffield Lake where he had resided for many years.
He was employed at Ford Motor Company, known to all as “Coal Bucket” for thirty-three years before retiring in 1992 as a Behr Operator. Charles loved serving the Lord as the Pastor of Green Pasture Baptist Church in Amherst. He was known as “Papaw” to all his family and friends. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles will be remembered as a kind man with a wonderful sense of humor. Charles loved his garden and growing his green beans.. His hobbies included gardening and traveling. Charles loved all sports, especially his Kentucky Wildcats
Survivors include his daughter, Treba Shannon (Larry) of Lorain; his grandchildren, Derek Hunt (Danielle), Jared Tackett (Rebecca), Austin Tackett (Jessica) and Danielle Close (Jeremy); his great grandchildren, Hunter, Aubrie, Peyton, Lilly, Weston, Aislee and Ashlyn; his siblings Albert Tackett of Taylor, MI and Norma Noble of Coon Hollar, KY.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-two years, Betty Sue Tackett (nee: Bentley) in 2011; his son, Daniel Wayne Tackett in 2012; and his parents Curtis and Sarah Tackett (nee: Bentley).
Friends may call Friday, March 17, 2023, from 4-8 p.m. at the Green Pastures Baptist Church, 12404 Leavitt Road, Oberlin. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, at ten o’clock at the church. The Rev. Kurby Perrigan, pastor, will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
