Raymond Charles Kiser, 87 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023 at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain following a brief illness..
He was born October 31, 1935 in Amherst, graduating from Amherst High School with the class of 1954.
Raymond was employed at Nordson as a machinist for forty-five years, retiring in 2005. He proudly served in the National Guard during the Cuban Crisis. Raymond was an avid Cleveland sports fan, both the Indians and Browns. He was a collector of different memorabilia and loved playing the Ohio Lottery. Raymond loved to call his family and friends on each of their birthdays.
Survivors include his children, Verla May Fleming of Jackhorn, KY, Timothy Ray Kiser (Janet) and Jennifer Krause (Rick) both of Lorain, James Kiser (Laurie) of Amherst, Joseph Kiser of Lorain and Bobbie Jo Kiser both of Amherst; his sister, Sue Stiles (Roger) of Cincinnati; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-seven years, Corene A. Kiser on April 28, 2012; his siblings, James Kiser, Walter Kiser, Jr., and Myrtle Reynolds; and his parents, Walter Earl Sr. and Florence Kiser (nee: Berger).
Friends may call Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11:00 a.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. The Rev. Daniel Reinke, pastor of Old Stone Evangelical, will officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
