Phyllis Jean Holbrook (nee: Webster), 86 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Thursday, July1, 2021, at Mercy New Life Hospice of Lorain following a brief illness.
Phyllis was born February 9, 1935, in Ward, WV where she was raised and lived until 1961 when she moved to South Amherst.
Phyllis was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Amherst. She was employed locally for the Rini Rego Grocery Store for 25 years before retiring in the 1990s as a deli manager. She loved being a homemaker; cooking, baking, and gardening. Camping with family was an activity she enjoyed for many years, and gospel music was a foundational part of much of her worship time with the Lord. She had a gift for hospitality, giving to others as evidence of her love for them. Her family and church were the primary recipients of that hospitality.
Survivors include her son Joseph “Jody” Holbrook of South Amherst; her grandchildren Brandi Holbrook; Joshua Holbrook; five great grandchildren; and several siblings.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-five years Bual Dean Holbrook in 2010; her children Timothy Holbrook in 2020 and Lorie Harness in 1992; several siblings; and her parents Marshall and Nettie Thomas (nee: Webster).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 from 11 am until the time of the funeral service at Faith Baptist Church, Amherst, Ohio. Rev. Alex VanCuran, will officiate. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon, Ohio. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/ .
