Pauline G. Mecera (nee: Hardman), 90 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away April 10,2022, at Kingston of Vermilion following a lengthy illness.
Pauline was born September 6, 1931, in Gilmer County, WV, and raised there. She had made her home in the Amherst area for over 66 years.
Pauline was a longtime cook and baker at Mercy Health for over 30 years. Pauline was a long time member of Old Stone Evangelical Church and loved her church family. Outside of work and church, she loved cooking and gardening. However, her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She instilled good values in her children and grandchildren that have served them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She enjoyed making meals for friends and families in need. Also, she found joy in life working with flowers and worked countless hours at Mecera’s Nursery Farm in Wakeman.
Survivors include: her children, William S. (Mary B.) Mecera of Wakeman, Rhadine (Mark) Zabrecky of Amherst, and John M. Mecera of Amherst; her grandchildren, Nicole Zabrecky, Michelle (Justin) Zabrecky-Calhoun, Amy (Robert) Kinsley, and Sarah Grattan; her great-grandchildren Sawyer Calhoun, Lincoln Calhoun, Reagan Kinsley, Alexis Risner, Seane Scott, and Collin Scott; her sister in law Emma Kennelley; and her many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William C. Mecera; her siblings, Hale Hardman, Hayward Hardman, and Sara Webb; and her parents Sull and Hester Hardman (nee: Putman).
A Public funeral service will be held this Friday, April, 29, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Old Stone Evangelical Church in Amherst. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . The Rev. Daniel Reinke, pastor of Old Stone Evangelical Church will officiate. Burial will take place at Crownhill Cemetery in Amherst.
