Paul Wormsley, 85 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022, at UH Elyria Medical Center following a brief illness.
Paul was born May 19, 1937, in Harlan, Kentucky where he was raised before moving to Chicago. Lorain has been his home for 59 years.
Paul AKA “The Worm” was a lift operator for the Ford Motor Company in Lorain and Avon and retired after 30 years of service. He was a retired member of the UAW. Paul loved the outdoors including golfing, turkey shoots, camping and racing, and gambling at the casinos when he had the opportunity. Paul treasured his family and treasured every moment he spent with them.
Survivors include his children Dan ( Carrie) Wormsley of Amherst, Paula (Rick) Wingard of Lorain, Dianna (Ed) Brezina of Lorain, Michelle (Robert) Murray of Grafton; twelve grandchildren; many great grandchildren; his siblings Kyle Wormsley of Georgia and Joanne Kravis of Florida.
Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Georgene Wormsley (nee: Waugh), brothers, Glenn, Jimmy, and Tommy; and his parents, Dan and Cleta Wormsley (nee: Cureton).
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 6, 2022, from 4-8 pm at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 am. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
