Paul W. Swartz, 85 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Thursday, June 30 2022, at Mercy New Life Hospice Residence Center following a sudden illness.
Paul was born August 16, 1936, in Cleveland and raised in North Olmsted. Amherst had been his home for the last 62 years.
Paul worked in many departments at Ridge Tool in Elyria and retired after 45 years of faithful service. He was an industrious man and worked in many various places on a part time basis before and after retirement such as delivering flowers for Zelek Florist, selling furniture at Rural Furniture, as a custodian at Amherst Library, Church of the Open Door and Miller's Greenhouse, and as a longtime associate at Hempel Funeral Home. He was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Amherst for 28 years and prior to that he was a member at Church of the Open Door, Elyria. He was a committed follower of Jesus Christ and served with the Gideons International distributing Bibles. Paul loved being busy and had a heart to serve, so caring for his lawn and assisting his neighbors with snow removal during the winters was a joy for him.
