Orrin T. Rector

Orrin T. Rector, 81 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away October 25, 2023, at his home following a lengthy illness. 

Orrin was born October 26, 1941 in Albany, NY and raised there, graduated and pursued some college courses. He signed and proudly served in the Navy. Amherst has been his home for the last 44 years. 

He retired from Ford Motor Company, Lorain passenger-car production after working close to 30 years there. He was a life member of Amvets Post 22, Vermilion and Amherst VFW Post 1662, long time member of the Amherst Eagles Aerie 1442, American Legion Post 118, Amherst and the Knights of Columbus, Lorain. He loved and enjoyed his family, friends, our country and all music, dancing, singing and playing the jute box.

He laid his rose colored glasses aside for the last time.  

Survivors include his wife of 44 years Karen, daughter Suzanne (Mark) Vermillion, brother, Jack (Karen) NC; and sister Ruth (Roger) Contento, NC; many nieces, nephews & great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Tom and Bob (Marge); sister Carol (Dr. John) Condemi and his parents E. Henry and Thelma.  

He was very strong and for all he went through, each day was a good day. We want to thank all the Cleveland Clinic doctors that extended his life and the nurses and friends that helped make his journey of all his cancers bearable. 

Celebration of Life will be held Sunday Nov. 19th. from 1-4 P.M. at the Amherst VFW Post 1662 Hall, 165 Cleveland Avenue, Amherst. VFW Officers and Honor Guard Services at 2:00 P.M.. Luncheon available.
