Norman L. White, 73 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness.
He was born February 12, 1951 in Lorain. Vermilion has been his home for the last forty years.
Norman was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved the time he spent with his family making memories. Norman was employed at Ford Motor Company in Avon for thirty years before retiring as a shop painter. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lorain. Norman had a servant's heart and was devoted to and took great joy in giving back to the community. He and his wife Mary for many years supported the food pantry at St. Mary’s Church. He also enjoyed participating as Santa Claus at the Brownhelm's Community Christmas gathering.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-four years, Mary E. White (nee: Ortiz); his children, Christopher White (Candice), Cynthia Lockhart (Scott), Rick Ortiz (LaShawn), Carmen Cumberledge, and Christina Rosebeck (Michael), his grandchildren, Matthew Ortiz (Kara), Christopher Lockhart, Xavier Rosebeck, Mark Cumberledge, Caitlyn Lockhart, and Brayden Rosebeck; his siblings, Lee White (Wilma), James Berman (Renee) and Jeanette Wahl (Doug).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Doris White (nee: Cleveland).
Friends may call Friday, April 5, 2024 from 4:00 until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com.
