Nancy Jean McCollough (nee: Mollison), 88 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, Ohio passed away March 2, 2024, at Avon Hospital.
She was born September 15, 1935 in Amherst. Nancy had made her home in the Amherst area for most of her life, graduating from Amherst High School with the class of 1953. She continued her education at Asbury College where she received her Master's in education.
She was employed as an elementary teacher with the Lorain Schools for thirty-one years before retiring in 1998. She, also, taught piano for over twenty-eight years. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church where she served as the pianist and organist. Nancy enjoyed being invested in the interest and lives of her children and grandchildren. After retirement, she worked part time at Amherst Library and continued to teach piano. In her spare time, Nancy was an avid reader.
Survivors include her children, Mark W. McCollough (Rebecca) of Amherst and Mary Beth Matus of Amherst; her grandchildren, Brittany Bendler (Brandon), Hunter Matus, Kirsten McCollough, Hayden Matus, Abigail McCollough and her great grandson, Jace.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Ralph Wayne McCollough in 1972; her sister, Carol Mollison; and her parents, Irving D. and Eva Mollison (nee: Flogdell).
Friends may call Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon.
