Nancy Lee Henceroth

Nancy Lee Henceroth (nee: Rodgers), 83 years of age, and a resident of Amherst,  passed away  Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Amherst Manor following a full and meaningful life.

She was born December 15, 1937, in Lorain, graduating from Lorain High School.  Nancy had made her home in Amherst for sixty years.

For over twenty years Nancy was employed as a LPN at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Lorain where she helped establish the first Coronary Care Unit in Lorain County.  She also worked as a home health care nurse for an additional ten years, retiring in 1983.  Nancy, along with her husband, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States.  She loved spending time with her family and caring for her pet dogs.  Nancy was a member of the Amherst Veterans of Foreign War #1662 ladies auxiliary where she served as president for two terms.

Survivors include her husband of sixty five-years, Frederick Henceroth; her children, John “Rick” Henceroth (Nortena) of Amherst, Bryan Henceroth (Nancy) of Elyria, Craig Henceroth (Brenda) of Lorain, Kevin Henceroth (Kathryn) and Lisa Robinson both of Amherst; twelve grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren; and her sister, Callista Ann Genre of MI, and half sister Delta Lou Champney of Huron.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Grace Rodgers (nee: Sandy / Adkins); step mom Geraldine Rodgers; brother Rufus Rodgers; and her grandson, Adam Henceroth.

Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family is requesting that all visitors wear a mask and observe COVID protocol. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/.   Burial will follow at Crownhill Cemetery, Amherst.
