Miriam Ann Matesic

                                                                                                  “Together Again”
Miriam Ann Matesic (nee: Burgess), 88 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023 at New Life Hospice in Lorain.

She was born January 7, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio.  As a young girl, her family moved to Avon where she was raised, graduating from Avon Lake High School with the class of 1953. She attended Miami University.   Miriam lived in Amherst for eighteen years before moving to Lorain in 1986.  She then spent her final years in Vermilion living with her daughter, Michelle and her husband, Eugene.

After college she was employed at Elyria Savings and Trust Bank.  Her life was spent devoted to her family. Miriam was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Amherst.  She enjoyed bowling, reading, and doing jigsaw puzzles with her family.  Miriam also loved traveling with her husband. 

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Deskins (Eugene) of Vermilion; her grandchildren, Amber Ilcisko (Timothy Brownell), Abbey Britt (Lindsay), Christopher Deskins (Samantha) and her great grandchildren, Addilyn, Ava, Jayden and M.J.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Rudolph Frank Matesic, Jr. on June 27, 2011; her grandchildren, Angela Ilcisko, Michael Deskins; and her parents, Arthur and Clara Burgess (nee: Wollman).

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.at Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Road, West, Lorain, Ohio 44053.  

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Road, Lorain, Ohio 44053.
