Melodey Lee Turner (Nee: D’amore), 63 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2020, at UH-Elyria Medical Center.
She was born November 23, 1956, in Lakewood, Ohio. Melodey was raised and lived in Cuyahoga County before moving to the Lorain County area where she had made her home for the last thirty-four years.
She was employed as a STNA with Sprenger Health Care Systems and at Lake Pointe Health Care Center for thirty-two years. Melodey received extended certification to work with Alzheimer's patients. Melodey was a member of New Beginnings Church in Amherst, formerly Amherst Church of Christ. Her hobbies included bowling, crocheting and gardening. She enjoyed watching movies, and TV Series, including Law & Order. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities.
Survivors include her children Frank (Kimberly) Barnett of Lorain, Elizabeth (Patrick) Olivier of South Amherst, and Kelly (Alexander) Figueroa of Elyria; her grandchildren James Barnett, Lee Ann Barnett, Patrick Olivier, Xander Olivier, Harley Olivier, and Guinevere Figueroa; along with several siblings.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-two years James Russell Turner on January 14, 2020; along with several siblings and her parents Daniel David and Eva Lou D’Amore (nee: Farnsworth).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held Thursday, October 22, 2020, at New Beginnings Church; 591 Washington Street, Amherst by reservation at https://signup.com/go/vObHJMC or by calling Hempel Funeral Home at 440-988-4451 during business hours of 9:00 - 5:00 p.m. Limited public funeral for family and friends will be held Thursday morning by reservation at https://signup.com/go/SAcWEYf at Hempel Funeral Home. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com. The Minister Robert Turner, her nephew will officiate. Burial will take place at Crownhill Cemetery in Amherst.
