Matthew Ray Hall

Matthew Ray Hall, 38 years of age, and a resident of Wakeman, passed away  September, 28, 2021, at his home.

He was born March 20, 1983, in Oberlin and raised in Amherst, graduating from Amherst Steele High School with the class of 2002.  Wakeman has been his home for the last 6 months. 

Matt’s joys in life included hiking, fishing, and collecting plants and herbs. He also enjoyed collecting and selling rare cacti. His greatest joy in life however, was his dog Layla whom he considered a part of his family.  

Survivors include his mom, Lisa DeBerry of Wakeman; his brother, Shaun Hall of Wakeman; and his sister, Lauren (Pat) Denny of Amherst.

He was preceded in death by his father, Michael R. Hall in 2015 and his step-father Brad DeBerry who passed away in 2012. 

Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 3, from 3 p.m. until the time of services at 4 p.m.at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio.   Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/. 

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to ASPCA.
