Mary Williams Obituary

Mary Louise Williams (nee: Satterfield), 92 years of age, and a longtime resident of Amherst and Lorain, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Monday morning, Dec. 27, 2021, following a full and meaningful life.

Mary was born May 7, 1929, in Lorain, Ohio where she was raised and lived, graduating from Clearview High School in the class of 1947.

She treasured her role as a housewife and mother as well as helping make the household ends meet by working steadily as a bookkeeper for Bear Furniture of Lorain and Long’s Greenhouse of Avon.  She was a longtime member of the former Fellowship Baptist Church in Lorain where she gladly served her Savior as a Sunday School teacher, Ladies Fellowship volunteer, Ladies Missionary Fellowship secretary, church financial secretary as well as serving in other ministry capacities.  In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, crossword and number puzzles, sewing, nature watching, sporting events on TV and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children, Paul J. (Linda) Williams of Lorain, Timothy (Donna) Williams of Wellington, Cynthia Y. (Bryan) Wolfli of Elyria, Sylvia D. (Brett) Locher of Lorain and Amarette Joy (Michael) Wright of Lodi; grandchildren, Allison, Ashley, Megan, Emily, Christina, Kimberly, Larry and Stacee; eight great grandchildren; her sister Elza G. Satterfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Paul Joyner Williams; siblings, James A. Satterfield in 2005, Ruth “Sue” Satterfield in 2015, and her parents Ewel and Amarette Satterfield (nee Jefferson).

Friends may call Friday, December 31, 2021, from 1 pm until the time of services at 3 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst.  Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com.
