Mary Christine Dostall (nee: Gaul), 86 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, passed away Monday, October 4, 2021, at Wesleyan Village in Elyria following a full and meaningful life.
She was born September 9, 1935, in Jefferson County, Pennsylvania where she was raised. Mary moved to Amherst in 1951 and graduated from Amherst High School with the class of 1953. She made her home in South Amherst for sixty-two years before moving to Elyria where she resided until her passing.
Mary was employed as a Payroll clerk at the former American Standard Company for six years. She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in South Amherst where she was active with the Friendship Circle. Mary loved keeping busy doing rubber stamping and scrapbooking.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel Dostall (Debbie) of Brunswick, James Dostall, II (Judy) of Oberlin and Michael Dostall of Phoenix, AZ; four granddaughters, and her sister Virginia Kaizer of DuBois, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years James Dostall in 1984; her brothers Lyman Gaul, Jr. in 2020 and Paul Kosko in 1968; and her parents Lyman, Sr. and Mary Gaul (nee: Gulish).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, from 11-2p.m.at Hempel Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 2p.m. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.
