Mary E. Domanski (Welch), 95 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Mill Manor Nursing Home in Vermilion, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born May 16, 1926, in Ambridge, Pennsylvania. At an early age, Mary and her family moved to the Lorain County area where she had resided until her passing.
Mary was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In her earlier years, Mary owned and operated her own beauty shop. She also had other employment ventures with the Lorain County Auditor's Office, and the Ohio State Parole and Probation Department. She later went on to work for Ford Motor Company before retiring in 2004 as a supervisor. Mary was a very active member of her community, volunteering her time as a member of St. Peter’s Seniors, IAV women’s auxiliary, and the Lorain Historical Society.
Survivors include her children, Nancy “Ski” (Tom) Bauer of Lorain; Chuck (Joyce) Domanski of Vermilion, Ohio; her grandchildren, Kelly Bartley and Heather Newman; and her great grandchildren, Morgan Bartley, Tyler Newman and Joshua Newman.
She was preceded in death by her son John “Bear” Domanski; her brother, James Welch; her parents, Earl John and Grace Russell Welch (nee: Martin).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
