Mary Bodkin Obituary
Mary Elizabeth Bodkin (nee: Hedrick), 103 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Kingston of Vermilion, following a full and blessed life.
She was born May 1, 1919 in Elkins, West Virginia. Mary graduated from Elkins High School with the class of 1938. She had made her home in the Lorain County area for many years.
Mary was employed as a sales associate at the Former Hills Department Store for many years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of Amherst United Methodist Church. Mary will be remembered as a great mom.
Survivors include her sons, Robert L. Bodkin of Henrietta Township, Eugene Bodkin of Berlin Heights, Ronnie Bodkin (Joyce) of Ormond Beach, FL and Roger Bodkin (Kathy) of Jacksonville, FL; numerous grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years in 1994; her companion of twenty years Harry Shamhart in 2016; 8 siblings and her parents, Harry and Louetta Hedrick (nee: Simmons).
A public graveside service will be held Thursday, March 16, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, 44805 North Ridge Road, Amherst.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donation be made to the Amherst United Methodist Church, 396 Park Ave, Amherst, OH 44001.
