Marion “Michael” Douglas Hall, 76 years of age, and a resident of Vermilion, passed away July 21, 2021, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Michael was born July 7, 1945, in South Webster, Ohio and raised in South Amherst, graduating from South Amherst High School in 1964. Vermilion has been his home since 1972.
Michael was employed as a parole officer with the State of Ohio Adult Probation Office for twenty-nine years before retiring in 2000. He loved serving as a parole officer and the opportunity to help others. Michael loved living for Christ and attending First Assembly of God in Vermilion. He graduated from Lorain County Community College in 1967 with an Associate in Liberal Arts, and continued his education at University of Arizona where he graduated with a Bachelors in Science in Corrections. Michael loved working outdoors and working with animals. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball, basketball and softball for his children, nieces and nephews.
Survivors include his wife of four years Sandra Hall (nee: Senko); his children, Derek Michael Hall of Vermilion and Tanya Suzanne Koba-Hall (John) of Amherst; his granddaughter, Brittany Harris (Dylan); his great grandson Braylyn Newman, his siblings, Norman Hall (Sheila) of Virginia, Mark Hall (Kerry) of Elyria, and Constance “Connie” Hall of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-five years, Sue Ellen Hall (nee: Jacobs) on August 20, 2010; his siblings Richard Hall in 2017, Keith A. Hall in 1968 and Kaye Faight on April 2, 2021; and his parents, Richard and Opal Hall (nee: Wilburn).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/. The Rev. Russ Nelson, pastor of First Assembly of God, will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
