Marilyn Edith Esser (nee: Richert), 85 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Independence Village in Avon, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born August 25, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio. Marilyn had made her home in Lorain for most of her life. She was a graduate of Lorain High School with the class of 1950B.
In 1976, she and her husband Dick started the Dick Esser Plumbing Company, in 1998, they transferred ownership to their sons who continue to operate the business to this day. Marilyn served as the Office Manager for many years before she retired in 1998. She enjoyed traveling and gambling. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory her sons David Esser (Chris) of Lorain, James Esser (Wendy) of Amherst; her daughter Kathy Lorah (Glen) of Toledo; her grandchildren, Michael Esser, (Grace Shallcross), Amy Esser (Kim Griech), Melanie Watterson (Nick), Matthew Esser (Kate Denslow) and Nicholas Wardrope; her great grandchildren Kadence Esser, Aspen Esser, Natalie Watterson and Miles Watterson; and in laws Raymond (Pat) Esser.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-nine years Richard "Dick" John Esser on May 21, 2012; her sister Carolyn Lilly; and her parents Henry E. and Martha Richert (nee: McLean).
Friends may call Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 4-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Private family burial will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial, Amherst Township.
