Marcella Ann Dodd (nee: Horvath), 84 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away Friday, July 10, 2020, at her home following a full and meaningful life.
She was born October 31, 1935, in Amherst, Ohio. Marcella was a lifetime resident of Henrietta Township, graduating from Henrietta High School with the class of 1954. After her marriage to her high school sweet heart Bill, Marcella traveled with her husband to Germany while he served in the United States Army. They returned to Ohio in 1960 to run Dodd's Hillcrest Orchard, the family farm.
Marcella was a registered nurse for twenty-five years, retiring from Kendall of Oberlin after fifteen years of service. She was a former member of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst and most recently attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin. She enjoyed attending her Monday lunch group with other local farmers and orchard growers. Marcella loved attending the local theater events and sharing her love of the arts with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed Cleveland sports, especially the Cleveland Indians.
Survivors include her children William “Bill” Dodd (Diane) of Henrietta Township, Mark C. Dodd (Carol) of Elyria, Fred Dodd (Cathy) of Lakeland, FL, Karen Burkhart (Mark) of Martinsburg, WV and Eric Dodd of Amherst; thirteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and her brother James Horvath of NV..
She was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-eight years William Wirt Dodd in 1985; by her siblings Bill Horvath and Helen Sapinenza; and by her parents James and Ann Horvath (nee Keressi).
A Celebration of life will be held at Hillcrest Orchards on Wednesday July 15th from 5-9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association.
