Mabel Louise Phillips (nee: Hayes), 82 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain following a long and full life.
Mabel was born May 23, 1939, in Mannington, West Virginia, where she was raised until she moved to Birmingham, Ohio. South Amherst has been her home for the last 63 years.
Mabel treasured her life as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful member of Grow Point Church in Amherst, and when time allowed, she loved to read.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, Jerry Allen Phillips; her children, Eva (Dan) Crowley of Mt. Holly, NC, Donna Lee Clark of Lorain, Bruce (Julie) Phillips of Berlin Hts., and Karen (Carroll) Byrd of Kipton; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.
Mabel was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers; as well as her parents Jessie and Dollie Hayes (nee: Glover).
Public visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, November 23, 2021, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . The Rev. Josh Smith, pastor of Grow Point Church, will officiate. Burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, South Amherst, Oh.
