Laurene 'Lori' R. (Blaha) Pasztor

Laurene “Lori” R. Pasztor (nee: Blaha), 64 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away suddenly Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Mercy Regional Medical Center following a lifelong battle with physical illnesses.

Lori was born September 6, 1958, in Cleveland and was raised in Marblehead.  Amherst has been her home for the past 45 years.  

Lori was a devoted homemaker, treasuring her roles of wife, mother and grandmother.  She sewed many items of clothing, as well as quilts for her family.  Lori enjoyed family time, listening to audiobooks and swimming.  Attending her grandchildrens’ sporting events brought her great joy.  She attended Christ Episcopal Church of Oberlin and was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Amherst where she gave of her time and talents for the betterment of others.  She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and in 2009 won an online Jeopardy Championship.  She loved to reminisce about her cruise taken with Alex Trebek.  Lori will be remembered for her strength, courage and generosity .

Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Michael Pasztor; her children, Edward (Lisa) Burcl  and Brianne Burcl both of Amherst, Megan (Randy) Rakosky of Marblehead, Nathan (Megan) Burcl of Winterhaven, FL; her grandchildren, Kegan, Kalee, Rylan, Selah, Sam, Logan; and her sisters, Leah Wirth of FL, Lecia (Ed) Segaard of SC, Michelle Blaha of FL. as well as her mother, Claudette Blaha (nee: Kilroy) of SC.

Lori was preceded in death by her father, Bart Blaha Jr. .

Friends may call Wednesday August 16, 2023, from 6-8pm  p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.   A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 11 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, Ohio.  The Rev. Timothy O’Connor, pastor, will officiate.
