Kenneth Holley, 74 years of age, and a resident of South Amherst, peacefully passed away April 12, 2022, surrounded by his family at home after a three year battle with cancer. Ken was born May 7, 1947, to Frank and Mary Holley. He graduated from Marion L. Steele High School with the class of 1965.
In 1967, Ken joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served for four years. During the Vietnam War, he was stationed in Ubon,Thailand for a year working on autopilot systems for the AC-130 Gunships and the F4 Phantoms. He married his wife, Linda, on July 3, 1971. He retired from Nordson Corporation in December 2008 after working for 29 years as a salesman/engineer. Outside of his family, his greatest passion was cars and motorcycles. Ken always lived life to the fullest. He felt fortunate that he was able to race his Austin Healey Sprite for five years in the VSCDA, Vintage Racing Club. After racing, Ken and Linda toured the country on his prized Goldwing, logging around 77,000 miles until his illness sidelined the trips.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Linda Holley (nee: Amey); his children, Melanie (Sam) Young of Amherst, Brian (Lindsey) Holley of Avon Lake; his grandchildren, Lucas Young, Kendall Holley, Ryan Holley, and Ethan Holley; his bonus grandchildren, Jacob (Dairien) Young and Benjamin Young; his brothers, Dennis (Jeanne) Holley of Creedmoor, NC, Frank (Lynne) Holley of Yulee, FL, and Dale (Susan) Holley of Yulee, FL; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his niece Dawn Holley; and his parents, Frank and Mary Holley (nee: Tobicash).
Public Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2022, from 10 a.m.- 12 noon with funeral to follow at noon at Hempel Funeral Home of Amherst . Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Amherst.
