Obituary

Karen Marie Devine (nee: Rockas), 59 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away  Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at University Hospital in Cleveland, following a lengthy illness.

She was born October 10, 1961 in Bay Village.  Karen had lived in Mentor for twenty years before moving to Amherst where she had made her home for most of her life.

Karen was employed as a Registered Nurse, and also worked as a research nurse focusing on brain tumors at University Hospital of Cleveland.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Nothing brought her greater joy than the time she spent with them which included talking to them daily on the phone. Karen loved cooking for her family, decorating for the holiday’s, especially Christmas which was her favorite holiday.  She enjoyed shopping and going out to eat with her family.   Her birthday was just after her anniversary and she loved sharing these special days with her husband Doug. 

Survivors include her loving husband of thirty-four years Douglas Devine; her children Samantha Devine of Amherst, Grace Devine of Avon Lake and Peter Devine of Amherst; her granddaughter Lillian Devine and her twin sister Laura Bixler (Lorance) of Medina.

She was preceded in death by her parents Peter J. and Carol Rockas (nee: Hart).

Public visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021  from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst, Ohio.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.   Rebroadcasting of services will be available at http://www.hempelfuneralhome.com/.  Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
