Joyce JoAnn Schwartz (nee: Aldrich), 91 years of age, and a resident of Lorain, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Avon - Cleveland Clinic, following a full and meaningful life.
She was born April 6, 1931 in Saginaw, Michigan. In 1963, Joyce moved to Amherst where she lived for many years before moving to Lorain where she resided until her passing.
Joyce was a devout Christian woman who loved Jesus and made God a priority in her life and home. She loved being a homemaker and was known for her great baking. Joyce enjoyed going to Blue Sky Restaurant. She loved her companion, her cat, Baby. She was blessed by her daughter Colleen and her many years of faithful caretaking and the countless hours invested by her.
Survivors include her children, James Schwartz of Canal Fulton, Michael Schwartz (Karen) of Lodi, Colleen Ursi (Dave) of Elyria, Karen McPhie of Avon Lake and Susan Sroka of Bay Village; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, James Walter Schwartz on March 11, 2004; her siblings Eugene Aldrich Jr., Betty Stahl and Beverly Best; and her parents, Eugene W. and Clare Aldrich (nee: Kiley).
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at The River, 210 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. The Rev. Rich Henry of The River and Rev. Ken Tucker, pastor of Beth-el Baptist Church in Elyria, will co-officiate. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com . Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
